Building a House

I've been neglectful in posting because we have been busy, busy, busy. Last Saturday Brent and I headed south for a wedding at the Lodge at Torrey Pines. B got to have a sleepover at her cousins' house, which went surprisingly well (all 3 girls slept in one room all night without a peep, yay!). Dancing, dinner, movies with popcorn and M+M's...she had a blast. Thank you J+M for volunteering to watch B overnight...and we're guessing you're totally willing to do it again, since it went so well- right?

The three musketeers

When we came back to OC the next morning Brent's parents arrived with a trailer full of wood and tools. Why? Well, back in January we hired a contractor in Northern California (big mistake)to build a playhouse for B. After four months of excuses, delays and disappointment, we realized the playhouse was never going to be delivered. We walked away from the deal but still had this foundation laid in the yard and a little girl who asked constantly about where her playhouse was. On Mother's Day Brent's dad asked to see the plans and within one week of seeing the plans, pulled up to our house with this:

Which soon became this:

and after two full days of work, resulted in this:

And while it still needs paint, windows, a door and flowers, it is lovely. And B is one very happy girl (as are her parents). Thank you Grandma and Grandpa K, for your efforts and love. It has already brought her many happy hours of playtime, and will continue to over the years.

Oh my! What a wonderful gift, and its more special that it was built by her grandfather. She will have countless hours of fun there.
