Life in the 'Burbs

Life in the subsurbs has been treating us well. We are settled in and are loving our home. That's not to say that it's been a flawless transition. Some highlights of the past 3 weeks include:

1. 7 trips to Home Depot, 2 trips to Lowe's, 3 trips to Ace Hardware

2. 1 clogged toilet, 1 visit from Roto Rooter, and a makeup compact unearthed from the master bathroom toilet- apparently it had been in there for at least 6 months-gross!

3. A novice gardener (me) using pinking shears for the first time and managing to properly slice my finger (nowhere near as bad as Brent's finger tip amputation)

4. A snake on our back deck (Brent's least favorite thing)

5. Finally having a real BBQ

6. Meg and John's visit, which happened to be the day I attempted to use the oven for the first time, only to discover the oven was not properly connected to the gas (and therefore my baked french toast could not be baked).

Things to look forward to:

1. Buying furniture for the empty room (casual dining room or living/reading room?)

2. Having an oven that works

3. Re-landscaping the front yard and slope

4. Getting our $1200 rebate check!


Things to not look forward to:

1. The first mortgage payment (eek).


There is something about pulling into my own driveway after a long day of work that makes me smile each and every time I do it.
